In 2003 I started to produce and sell contemporary objects that dialogue with the past, made solely of materials transformed by fire, this range from portable art, jewellery, luminaries, and author pieces. They are all limited series worked toby me, or collaborations with artisans from the state of Oaxaca, urban family workshops or suburban factories in Mexico City. “Fuego con Juego” is a platform where I focus on materials and ways of exploring, searching to expand my language, usage and perception of glass, metals, ceramics and other materials in a contemporary form.
My symbol is a spheric form with a bend, this beginning form in the language of glass, but it also shows the breath that gives shape to the matter. My monogram, in the times of alchemy was used to represent the element "glass". The color red expresses the moment of transformation by fire.
My key values are:
•An immense respect of our heritage, craft and material sense.
•I would like to provide an understanding of applied arts and material objects, from a contemporary point of view producing pieces that tell us about the history of Mexico.
• I believe in collaboration and in combining talent with contemporary design solutions for the strength of craft communities.
• I seek to make timeless pieces which express a unique style that transcends the temporality of fashion and has no expiration date. Originality and concept are the backbone and consistency of our proposals.
