In May 2016 , my friend, artist Sarah Gilbert came to México with two of her Pitzer art students to work together on this community garden at the south end of the city. This project would not have been possible without the help of a grant by Pitzer College and the amazing work of: Madeline Coven and Gabrielle Das.
We want to thank Demián Flores and Nicolas Carballo of La Cebada Arte y Comunidad where we did "Botánica Urbana" children´s workshop. These children drawings triggered all the subsequent imagery. Demián also did the illustrations for the glass casted pieces. Faro Tláhuac within their ten year celebration, also supported us: Alejandro Rincón Gutiérrez and biologist Ruben Trevino and so we did a second workshop.
We finally want to thank all who participated in the community garden based on the "7 neighborhoods " of Xochimilco - Tláhuac area. In this garden we assembled all the different sculptural processes we did and so it is dedicated to El Faro community and to the children of the San Lorenzo La Cebada neighborhood at the south end of the city.
